Best detergent ever. I use it on all my laundry!
We started using this detergent for cloth diapers and I was amazed at how it solved our stink issues that I started using it on my towels and baby cloths. I noticed how soft those were and how fresh they smelled so I switched ALL my laundry to Charlies and I'll NEVER go back. It leaves clothes feeling very soft, very clean and smelling fresh without any annoying scents. My daughter and I both have sensitive skin and this doesn't irritate us at all. I also feel good that its good for the environment. :)
A Surprise Benefit of This Soap
I have found the same benefits and quality as previous reviewers--with one additional find. I often end up with a washed load of clothes being left overnight in the washer. (This is because I have this ridiculous amount of laundry out of 2 bathrooms and 2 sons at home--and I always think I will still be up to move the load to the dryer but---not. But,I digress) Normally those "already washed" loads smell so awful by the next morning, that I MUST rewash the load. Now, all that with using expensive commercial soaps, not bargain stuff. Also, this is happening with the more natural type soaps carried at Sam's Club and Costco. The first time this happened with a load washed in this Charlie's Soap Powder, there was NO and I mean NO souring of the load overnight! I sniffed and sniffed and sniffed in disbelief, because sour laundry is so gross and I wasn't going to let any of it get past me! Everything smelled so fresh, as if I had just done the load an hour ago. This is its consistent performance. There is no fragrance,just a wonderful clean smell. The only negative--it is NOT a stain remover. Stains remain, so pretreat those. I too use 1 1/2 to 2 scoops in my large capacity washer, as some others are doing.
Clean but not stain free
I began using this after learning how it is recommended for baby items. After a time I began using it for all our clothes rather than switching back and forth.
It does really clean the clothes - when I looked at a couple of loads of barely-dirty clothes part-way through the agitation cycle, the water was brown- as if they hadn't really been cleaned in a while. They do come out smelling clean. It has even removed pit odor from shirts that other detergents just seem to mask. I do miss a little scent so still use scented dryer sheets, which are necessary - the clothes are soft enough but the static is terrible.
The reason I did not give 5 starts is because even though the soap clearly cleans well, it does not help new or old tougher stains, nor whiten whites.
BEST LAUNDRY SOAP OF ALL TIME
I buy everything on Amazon, but this is officially my first review. Charlie's Laundry Soap is incredible. My search for laundry detergent has come to an end (Amazon, please keep this product eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping FOREVER). Initially bought this to use on BumGenius cloth diapers, but now I am using it exclusively. There is no fragrance whatsoever (I am VERY sensitive to smell), the clothes just smell really clean. This gets the musty, mildew smell out that no other detergent I've used has been able to do (I had used Tide Free & Clear and All Free & Clear in the past). The clothes are also softer using Charlie's. HE machines recommend using powder detergents as well, so this is good for those types of machines. The bag is great and super easy to open and close and the scoop they include is perfect. I can not say enough good things about this product. Every time I do laundry, I fall in love all over again.

This laundry soap smells great! I love the packaging( or lack thereof)! It works great even though you don't have to use much at a time. I bought it based on someone's rating in a magazine( they were right)!!!
